The Appalachian Heritage Festival is an annual Shepherd University event. I was given photographs to use for the project. I used one of each performer combined with the typeface “Gin” for the Appalachian feel and complimented it with the handwritten type below. A transparent to black gradient gives a smooth transition from the dark in the image to a black while helping the text stand out from the busier background. This project was a good opportunity for me to learn to manage large amounts of text on a poster while balancing the hierarchy and maintaining an overall look.
